This Year's Mantra...

Simplify & Prosper.

Life is a beautiful thing!!!! Tomorrow I will turn 40 years old. IF I last till 80... this will mean I'm halfway ..... and in the middle of my journey on this planet. As far as I know.

So, to celebrate my own life.... here, today... quiet and alone. I'm going to share two great quotes.

A. Powell Davies: Life is just a chance to grow a soul.

Abraham Lincoln: And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

Thank you Universe for the responsibility and wonders of being a father and for all of my other wonderful roles. Thank you Mom & Dad for colliding briefly in your histories and producing ME ..... and thank you to my family of friends that have colored the life in my years.

Good life so far... I'm having fun with this one.

A Simple Life

Today, looking at a Daddy and his one year old daughter, I was reminded that keeping things simple can calm the heart and mind and bring the wandering mind back to the present moment.

There really is not a lot that needs to be done. If we keep ourselves, the little ones and maybe some pets fed, clothed and sheltered, all will be fine.

I love being a Daddy. Today, I bow to the Universe for this WONDERFUL gift and responsibility. I also bow to that fellow Father that reminded me of a blessing.

The Path of the Warrior

"It's up to us. We can spend our lives cultivating our resentments and cravings or we can explore the path of the warrior - nurturing open-mindedness and courage."

This is a quote from the book I'm reading... "The Places That Scare You" by Pema Chodron.

This inspires me. I want to be a warrior. I vow today to start nurturing my courage. I've been lining my bookshelf and bookmarks with armor. Now it is time to start sharpening my tools. If I write this down it's true... right? If I say it to myself... It can be realized.
Today I vow to start chipping away at my resentments. Today I vow to start letting go of my cravings. I will start by bowing to Miss Chodron. Thank you for these words.

This is the first time I've "blogged" anything. I hope I did ok.
